Barista & Pie Server

Four & Twenty Blackbirds, an acclaimed Brooklyn-based pie company, is seeking an experienced barista to join our pie shop team in Gowanus, Brooklyn. We’re looking for someone knowledgeable about coffee and espresso-based drinks, who is excited to learn more about pies and baked goods, and provides exemplary customer service. The ideal candidate has availability to work both opening and closing shifts, as well as weekends.

We are a counter service establishment with the following hours:

• Monday - Friday: 8 am - 6 pm
• Saturday: 9 am - 7 pm
• Sunday: 10 am - 6 pm

We’re looking for someone with:

• Exceptional customer service skills
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Prior barista/coffee/foodservice experience
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• The ability to be on their feet for the duration of a 6-hour shift
• Weekend availability
• Availability during holidays (that’s our busy season!)
• The ability to maintain a positive attitude and provide consistently great service during busy periods
• Food Handler’s License is preferred, but not required.

What you’ll be doing:

• Opening and closing the pie shop
• Providing great customer service, including: greeting customers, taking orders, slicing and serving pie, answering questions (both in-person and on the phone), etc.
• Operating the POS
• Making coffee drinks
• Daily maintenance and cleaning
