Founding Full-Stack Engineer - Hybrid San Francisco, CA $220K - $280K

<p>About this role</p><p>As our client's <strong>Founding Engineer</strong>, you will define, build, and maintain the technical foundation of our platform. You will join us in-person in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment where you will take ownership of everything, from architecture and implementation to production reliability for mission-critical services. You will partner directly with founders and early customers to translate real-world requirements into robust, high-quality products.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Key responsibilities</strong></p><ol><li><strong>Full Stack & End-to-End </strong>– Design, implement, and operate complete services and user-facing features, from requirements gathering through production support</li><li><strong>System Design & Architecture </strong>– Develop highly available, event-driven systems for ledgering, compliance, and risk that scale with transaction volume while maintaining zero downtime</li><li><strong>Implementation Engineering</strong> – Embed with customers, collect feedback, and iterate rapidly to ensure our roadmap aligns with user needs</li><li><strong>Technical Decision-Making</strong> – Balance speed and long-term scalability, selecting appropriate technologies (Next.js/TypeScript, C#, Go, Python, modern cloud infrastructure) for each problem domain</li></ol><p><br></p><p>Seniority</p><ul><li>3 - 8 years of experience as a software engineer in payments or compliance</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Work experience</p><ul><li>Previous<strong> platform engineering experience </strong>with <strong>exposure to payments or compliance</strong> at <strong>Tier 1 venture-backed start-ups </strong></li><li>Last role at a <strong>high-growth start-up </strong>and is hungry and scrappy (additional markers like GitHub ideal)</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Education</p><ul><li>Top 20 CS degree (e.g., MIT, Waterloo, CMU) but not required if experience is compelling</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Hard skills</p><ul><li>Expertise <strong>across the stack</strong>, excited to be all-hands on deck with code (using AI-assisted dev tools), and strong <strong>systematic thinkers</strong></li><li>Proficient in at least two of: Next.js/TypeScript, C#, Go, and Python</li></ul><p><br></p><p>Salary</p><p>$220K - $280K</p><p><br></p><p>Equity</p><p>0.1 – 1.0%</p><p><br></p><p>Hybrid work policy</p><p>In-person 3-5 days per week in SF</p><p><br></p><p>Visa sponsorship available</p><p>Highly candidate dependant with preference for US citizens or O-1 eligible candidates</p><p><br></p><p>Full-time position</p>
