Home Health Aide (HHA)

Job Overview
As a Home Health Aide, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to individuals in their homes or community settings. Your primary responsibility will be to assist clients with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and well-being while promoting independence. This position requires a dedicated individual who is skilled in patient care and has a strong understanding of the needs of those requiring assistance, including seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients
  • Monitor and document vital signs and changes in patient condition
  • Assist with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary
  • Provide basic housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Support clients with Alzheimer’s care, dementia care, and memory care strategies
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Ensure a safe environment for clients by observing safety protocols and reporting any hazards

Skills

  • Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in health status
  • Experience in assisted living or nursing home settings preferred
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation
  • Knowledge of medical terminology related to patient care
  • Certification in CPR and first aid is highly desirable
  • Experience in hospice care is required
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals who have developmental disabilities
  • Proficient in cooking nutritious meals tailored to client dietary needs
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients, families, and healthcare teams
  • Compassionate caregiving approach focused on enhancing client dignity and independence
