<p><strong>About the Role: </strong></p>
<p> The Medical Coding Specialist II is responsible for correctly coding healthcare claims and analyzing denials to obtain proper reimbursement. The Medical Coder accurately and efficiently codes hospital outpatient and professional service using official code sets and classifications systems to obtain the most accurate data based on documentation.</p>

<div>Compensation: <strong>$26-$30 per hour, depending on qualifications</strong></div>

<p><strong>Key Responsibilities: </strong></p>
<p>Read and analyze patient records</p>
<p>Accurately and efficiently code for a variety of services including but not limited to, evaluation and management, laboratory, imaging, injections and infusions, and specialty surgical procedures in the clinic and hospital outpatient settings.</p>
<p>Monitor, research, and correct claim denials within health plan requirements and document any trends with which to follow-up</p>
<p>Submits clean claims for payment</p>
<p>Complies with Federal and State standards utilizing CCI edits, Medicare bulletins, ACR bulletins, etc. to keep abreast of the changes within the industry</p>
<p>Maintains knowledge of and complies with coding guidelines</p>
<p>Find documentation in multiple EMR systems such as EPIC, ECW, Cerner, Meditech</p>
<p>Interacts with clients to ensure accuracy</p>
<p>Maintain patient confidentiality and information security</p>
<p>Maintain an error rate of 5% or less</p>
<p>Must meet production goals assigned by supervisor</p>

<p><strong>Required Qualifications: </strong></p>
<p>High school diploma or equivalent</p>
<p>5 years of on-the-job experience in abstract coding and coding denials for both hospital outpatient and professional claims</p>
<p>Payor and Policy Research experience</p>
<p>Experience Epic platform</p>
<p>Any of the following certifications by AAPC or AHIMA (Proof of current certification required):</p>
<ul>
<li>Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)</li>
<li>Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)</li>
<li>Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)</li>
<li>Certified Professional Coder (CPC)</li>
<li>Or equivalent certification from AAPC or AHIMA</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications: </strong></p>
<p>Associates degree or equivalent in Health Information Management</p>
<p>MediTech experience</p>
<p>Rural Health Clinic experience</p>
<p>Critical Access Healthcare experience</p>
