Sales Specialist Purina Animal Nutrition<p>As a Feed Sales Specialist, you will represent Purina products across assigned markets and territories, managing relationships with dealers and co-ops to drive growth at both the distribution level and the farm gate. This role will have a primary focus on Grass Cattle in addition to horse and family flock. This position contributes to revenue growth by actively promoting Purina’s products and services, requiring a forward-thinking approach to sales, relationship building, and inventory management to ensure the product portfolio aligns with market demands.</p><p></p><p><i>This is a remote/virtual position working with producers and dealers in Northern and Central Nevada and Sacramento CA area.  </i></p><p></p><p><b><u>Key Responsibilities:</u></b></p><p></p><p><b>Sales & Market Growth</b></p><ul><li><p>Leverage existing dealer/co-op relationships and identify new distribution opportunities to expand market share.</p></li><li><p>Drive share-of-wallet growth by aligning product portfolio with customer and market needs.</p></li><li><p>Independently qualify, pursue, and close new sales opportunities within assigned territory.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Account & Relationship Management</b></p><ul><li><p>Serve as lead contact for key accounts, including those with multiple sellers ("account quarterback" role).</p></li><li><p>Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, co-ops, and internal stakeholders to support growth objectives.</p></li><li><p>Develop and nurture high-level relationships that support broader organizational strategy.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Dealer & Inventory Management</b></p><ul><li><p>Ensure dealers are equipped with appropriate inventory to meet demand.</p></li><li><p>Provide accurate product availability updates and manage inventory levels across accounts.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Sales Execution & Field Engagement</b></p><p></p><p><span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">·      </span> Support sales through on-farm visits, dealer meetings, and local events.</p><p><span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">·      </span> Drive sales into dealers through direct engagement and coordinated sales activities.</p><p></p><p><b>Collaboration & Leadership</b></p><ul><li><p>Collaborate across Channel Sales to meet revenue targets.</p></li><li><p>May mentor LPS roles, providing guidance and support to develop capability.</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><u>Required Qualifications</u></b></p><ul><li><p>5–10 years of experience in sales or related field.</p></li><li><p>Cattle nutrition and management experience highly desired</p></li><li><p>Knowledge of industry, sales practices, and product portfolio.</p></li><li><p>Strong communication, <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">relationship-building,</span> and organizational skills.</p></li><li><p>Ability to solve complex problems and influence outcomes.</p></li><li><p>Overnight Travel:  40%-50%, including some nights and weekends as needed</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b><u>Desired <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">Experience/Knowledge/Skills</span></u></b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s Degree in Ag or related business field (ex.  Animal Science/Nutrition, Ag Business, Ag Education). </p></li><li><p>Horse nutrition and management</p></li><li><p>Ability to execute on-farm activities, and classroom training</p></li><li><p>Must be <span style="overflow-wrap: break-word; display: inline; text-decoration: inherit; hyphens: auto;">self-motivated/self-starter</span></p></li></ul><p></p><p><i>Compensation</i></p><ul><li><p><i>This is a sales role that is compensated with a target mix of base salary plus commission. </i></p></li><li><p><i>Base salary is dependent upon experience/tenure and generally ranges between: $87,000 - $107,000</i></p></li><li><p><i>Target bonus is: Thirty Thousand</i></p></li><li><p><i>In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.</i></p></li></ul><p><b>About Land O'Lakes, Inc.</b></p><p></p><p>Join us and be part of a Fortune 250, farmer- and member-owned cooperative that is reimagining the business of food.
