Senior Cloud Engineer, AWS

<strong>Description<br><br></strong>We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to design, build, and operate full-stack cloud infrastructure on AWS. This role is responsible for delivering scalable, secure, and highly available cloud environments across networking, compute, storage, and platform services.<br><br>This is a hands-on engineering role that combines deep technical execution with architectural collaboration, requiring strong experience in AWS, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native design patterns. The ideal candidate will also provide technical leadership to junior engineers while partnering closely with centralized architecture teams.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><strong>Cloud Infrastructure Engineering<br><br></strong><ul><li>Design, build, and maintain end-to-end AWS infrastructure including:</li><li>Networking (VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups)</li><li>Compute (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, container platforms)</li><li>Storage (S3, EBS, RDS, and related services)</li><li>Build scalable, resilient, and cost-efficient cloud environments aligned with enterprise standards</li><li>Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred, CloudFormation, or similar)</li><li>Implement CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation for infrastructure and applications<br><br></li></ul><strong>Architecture & Design<br><br></strong><ul><li>Translate business and application requirements into AWS-based solutions and technical designs</li><li>Collaborate with centralized AWS architects to align implementation with enterprise architecture standards</li><li>Contribute to design reviews, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement of cloud patterns</li><li>Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, and performance standards</li><li>Collaborate across departments with Application Development leadership to align on and design infrastructure solutions<br><br></li></ul><strong>Operations & Reliability<br><br></strong><ul><li>Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize AWS environments for performance, availability, and cost efficiency</li><li>Implement best practices for logging, monitoring, and alerting (e.g., CloudWatch)</li><li>Participate in incident response and root cause analysis</li><li>Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning<br><br></li></ul><strong>Leadership & Collaboration<br><br></strong><ul><li>Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers</li><li>Lead implementation efforts and drive engineering best practices</li><li>Collaborate with DevOps Platform team, security, and application teams to deliver integrated solutions</li><li>Act as a senior engineering voice in technical discussions and decision-making<br><br></li></ul><strong>On-Call & Support<br><br></strong><ul><li>Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including after-hours and weekend support</li><li>Respond to and resolve production incidents as part of operational responsibilities<br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>5+ years of hands-on AWS engineering experience (mid-to-senior level)</li><li>Proven experience designing and implementing AWS infrastructure across:</li><li>Networking, compute, and storage layers</li><li>Strong expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform)</li><li>Deep knowledge of AWS core services (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) and platform services</li><li>Experience with Elastic Beanstalk and application deployment patterns</li><li>Solid understanding of cloud architecture, security, and scalability<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li>AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator)</li><li>Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS)</li><li>Experience with CI/CD tooling and DevOps practices</li><li>Familiarity with cost optimization (FinOps) practices</li><li>Background in hybrid cloud or migration initiatives</li><li>PCI, SOC and SOX experience</li><li>Experience with on prem Windows infrastructure is a plus<br><br></li></ul><strong>Technical Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>AWS Services: EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk</li><li>Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, CloudFormation</li><li>Scripting: Python, Bash, or similar</li><li>CI/CD: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline</li><li>Monitoring: CloudWatch and logging tools</li><li>New Relic: Experience with New Relic is a plus<br><br></li></ul><strong>Soft Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li>Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills</li><li>Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable solutions</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills</li><li>Proven ability to mentor and lead junior engineers<br><br></li></ul><strong>Work Environment & Expectations<br><br></strong><ul><li>Full-time role (remote/hybrid depending on team needs)</li><li>Participation in on-call rotation including evenings and weekends</li><li>Fast-paced, collaborative cloud engineering environment<br><br></li></ul><strong>This role is ideal for a hands-on, senior-level AWS engineer who:<br><br></strong><ul><li>Owns infrastructure end-to-end (network → compute → storage)</li><li>Balances execution with architecture alignment</li><li>Leads others while still building</li><li>Thrives in an operationally critical, production-facing environment</li></ul>
